Visiting Tips & Tourist Guide

Everything you need to know before visiting the Petronas Twin Towers

Planning Your Visit

Visiting the Petronas Twin Towers is one of the quintessential Kuala Lumpur experiences, but a successful visit requires some advance planning. With limited daily visitor numbers and high demand, preparation can mean the difference between a memorable experience and a disappointing one.

The visitor experience includes access to two key areas: the Skybridge on the 41st and 42nd floors (170 metres above ground) and the Observation Deck on the 86th floor (370 metres above ground). A typical visit lasts 45 minutes to one hour, including time at both levels and a stop at the gift shop.

Tickets and Booking

Advance booking is strongly recommended β€” tickets frequently sell out, especially during weekends, school holidays, and the December/January festive season. Online tickets are available through the official Petronas Twin Towers website and are typically cheaper than on-site purchases.

On-site tickets can be purchased from 8:30 AM, but availability is not guaranteed. Display screens at the counter show remaining time slots. If you plan to buy on-site, arrive early β€” popular time slots sell out quickly.

Opening Hours

The towers are open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, with last admission at 8:30 PM. Key exceptions include:

What to Expect

Arrive 15–30 minutes before your scheduled time slot for check-in and security screening. Security is similar to airport procedures β€” bags, strollers, water bottles, and selfie sticks must be checked in. You'll need a valid passport or photo ID for entry.

The visit begins with a brief multimedia presentation about the towers' history. A high-speed elevator whisks you to the 41st floor skybridge in about one minute. After approximately 10 minutes on the skybridge, another elevator takes you to the 86th floor observation deck, where you'll have about 15 minutes to enjoy the panoramic views.

Photography Tips

Photography is encouraged but comes with some practical challenges. The observation deck views are through glass, which can cause reflections. Press your camera or phone directly against the glass to minimize reflections. Flash photography, tripods, and selfie sticks are not permitted inside.

For the best exterior photos of the towers, head to KLCC Park (the fountain area offers classic frontal views), the Traders Hotel SkyBar (elevated perspective), or the Wet Deck at W Hotel (sunset views). Golden hour (5:30–7:00 PM) offers the most dramatic lighting.

Getting There

The easiest approach is by public transport. Take the Kelana Jaya LRT line to KLCC station β€” it's a direct connection from KL Sentral, the city's main transport hub. The journey takes about 10 minutes. The station connects directly to the Suria KLCC mall at the towers' base.

Taxis and the Grab ride-hailing app are reliable alternatives. Parking is available at Suria KLCC mall but can be congested during peak hours.
